Quiet News Day Episode 101

Quiet News Day Episode has past its centenary and we’re now onto episode 101 !

This week your host Scott Douglas is flying solo, as co-presenter Peter Laing is on holiday, and has a packed show full of the best offerings from the world of PR, journalism and social media.

Kicking off episode 101 is an interview with the 2011 CIPR Scotland PRide Awards Young Communicator of the Year Laura Berry, from Holyrood Partnership, who discusses the future of public relations in Scotland and gives some sage words of wisdom for aspiring PR undergraduates.

Next up, Scott looks at the recent comments by author Ewan Morrison about how online freebie hunters are killing culture, and how Scots are leading the way in digital publishing.  

Finally there is a discussion about the Guardian’s decision to publish its news schedule online and how iPad magazine Once wants to be the saviour of photojournalism.

Quiet News Day 89

Hello,

Apologies as the podcast is slightly late this week but it is certainly worth waiting for. Scott Douglas has returned from his holidays but now Peter Laing has decided to escape. But do not despair Craig McGill from Contently Managed had stepped up to the task and the pair delve into this week’s journalism, PR and social media news.

Scott has managed to miss two of the biggest media stories of the past year including the News of the World phone hacking scandal and the launch of Google+, Google’s very own social networking site.  So this week the pair discuss the latest developments concerning Rupert Murdoch and his company and how the PR sector may be benefitting from the scandal. They  also discuss how they think Google+ will fare in the open market.

Following the announcement of Kate and Wills engagement, Scott Douglas (Holyrood PR) and Shaun Milne (Deadline News) discuss whether it really was new information.  That’s two weeks on the trott we’ve had podcast content of a Royal nature – jolly good!(?).

Why not watch the moment when I asked, HRH Princess Anne for her reaction to her nephew’s plans to get hitched?  Yes, its brief, but mildly amusing.
